URO Arts Research Award
Our newest award, the URO Arts Research Award aims to recognize undergraduate students in the Faculty of Arts who have demonstrated passion and excellence in research. Excellent applicants show true passion for their research, have gone out of their way to pursue it, and understand the value of their contribution to their project and field.
1 x $500
2 x $300
2 x $200
All five winners and an additional two runner-ups will have their abstracts published in a special edition of the Canadian Journal of Undergraduate Research (CJUR).
All current students in the UBC Faculty of Arts are eligible to apply. Research carried out inside and outside of a classroom setting will be evaluated equally, provided that it is original work.
Applications open on November 30th, 2020 and close on January 29th, 2021! Email firstname.lastname@example.org if you have any questions.
Tips for Applicants
Answer the questions with the project that you have contributed the most to in mind (i.e., you don’t need to use the most recent project, just a project that you were involved in over the past two years)
We are weighing the significance section of the questions more heavily – try to ensure the details you do include clearly demonstrate that you understand the significance of your work to your field
If you are hoping to do research in the future, please state this explicitly and use specific examples for how your undergraduate extracurricular and course work is related to this future goal
We love to see applicants show passion for their work! We aren’t looking for cookie-cutter answers; we want to see genuine interest in both the experiences you had and the way you describe them and yourself.
