About Me
Hi, all! My name is Claire, and I’m entering my fourth year of Pharmacology in the Faculty of Science. I’m currently working as a co-op student at BC Children’s Hospital Research Institute, where I am looking into the role of mitochondria in shaping the development of the innate immune system in neonates. I also previously volunteered with the Hotel Study, a 20-year-longitudinal study investigating multi-morbidity in the Downtown Eastside.
Outside of research, I also volunteer as a member of the UBC First Aid Student Team! In my spare time, I enjoy creative writing and teaching myself to play new musical instruments.
How did I first get into research?
I initially got into research by cold emailing professors in my department in the summer after my second year! By sheer chance, one of them replied to me and was kind enough to put me as a volunteer on a project that he was a part of.
