About Me
Hi everyone! My name is Jody. I graduated from UBC in 2019 with a degree in Microbiology & Immunology. I am now finishing the first year of UBC Dentistry. I have 2 years of lab experience at BC Children’s Research Institute, investigating the susceptibility to opportunistic pathogens in infants. I enjoy watching musicals, playing the piano, and building legos. Looking forward to meeting you all!
How did I first get into research?
After writing a team research proposal with my REX team in first year, I decided to take it a step further to look for hands-on lab experiences. I emailed a couple of the principal investigators (PIs) at BC Children’s Hospital Research Institute, saying I was interested in their research and was willing to volunteer. One of them gladly took me as a volunteer student. After volunteering and learning for 2 months, I got assigned a research project. Later, I became an undergraduate research assistant in the same lab.
