Biography
Hi! My name is Margaret and I’m a fifth-year Biology student at UBC. I’m currently doing my honours thesis at the Biomedical Research Centre, conducting studies to develop cell-based therapeutics as a possible treatment for retinal degenerative diseases and trauma. I began my work this summer as a Co-op student and am excited to continue learning about the field of regenerative medicine. Prior to this, I worked as a Co-op Student Researcher at the Vancouver Prostate Centre, investigating the molecular mechanisms underlying nucleolar protein regulation and its implications on prostate cancer development. I also had the opportunity to work within clinical research under the Medical Genetics department at BC Children’s, studying genetic and genomic syndromes that contribute to autism spectrum and related neurodevelopmental disorders.
