Welcome, Mentors!
What is a REX Mentor?
REX mentors are graduate students or post-doctoral fellows with research experience who work with UBC undergraduates to develop and present their own original research projects at the annual Multidisciplinary Undergraduate Research Conference (MURC).
The work of a REX mentor includes:
- Guiding mentees through the process of designing and answering a research question
- Helping mentees gain an introductory understanding of current research in your field
- Supporting students as they work hard to create their own research
- Providing guidance as mentees develop their own projects
- Showing mentees how interesting and rewarding research can be!
Every mentor will be matched with a group of 2 – 5 undergraduate students that have eagerly applied to work with you. Mentors work together with their Mentees to decide what the group is interested in researching and how you will collaborate to make the best project possible.

In addition to making a positive impact on undergraduate students, REX mentors can gain many benefits such as:
